Chile peppers are rated in “Scoville heat units,” so winners in the annual competition sponsored by Fiery-Foods are awarded Scovies. We got two in 2011, a first for Kiss the Devil Chocolate Caramel Sauce in the “Prepared Sauce: Sweet Sauce” category and a second for Hot Lips Truffle in the “Sweet Heat” category.
It's a sweep! The results of the 2010 Hot Pepper Awards are in, and they love us. In the Open Class, Chocolates by George was given the Overall award for our Hot Lips Truffles, which then took first place in the for sweets division, followed by the Caffeindish Truffles which took second, and Kiss the Devil Caramel Sauce took third!
We won! For the third year in a row, Chocolates by George! has received prizes in the zesty treats – candy division at the Zest Fest. This annual international competition, now in its 13th year, is held at the Will Rogers Center at Fort Worth, Texas. Sauces, salsas, condiments, prepared foods, dry rubs, and candy compete fiercely for the judges attention, along with the traditional live chile cook-off. Like it hot?
